Ghost Stories from Japan #29: The Promisory Note (with English and Spanish subtitles)

Japanese ghost

Lights off

Description

In Japan 4 and 9 are numbers of bad luck. The pronunciation of 4 (shi) sounds like the word for death (shi), while 9 (ku) sounds like the beginning of the word suffering (kurushii). The title of this episode plays with words too, as Tegata (Promisory Note) is written with the characters for "hand" and "form", its meaning becoming evident at the end of the video. Tosee subtitles place cursor on the square at the lower right corner of the screen (the one that has a triangle), then click on the square that appears over it and says CC.
